A Cape Town Love Story: Leel & Govan’s Unforgettable Lebanese Wedding at Johannesdal

When Govan first phoned me and said he wanted me to photograph the moment he proposed to Lee, I knew it was going to be something special and it truly was. I had the absolute privilege of capturing their engagement shoot and the proposal itself, which was filled with emotion, love, and the kind of joy you don’t soon forget.

I still remember Lee telling me during that shoot that she dreamed of getting married in Cape Town. I said right then and there, “I’ll come to you. I’d love to shoot your wedding.” So when I got the phone call confirming I’d be photographing their big day in Stellenbosch, I was over the moon.

The wedding took place at the breathtaking Johannesdal in Stellenbosch , nestled in the heart of the winelands  a venue as elegant and warm as the couple themselves. The weather was perfect, the mountains stood proudly in the background, and the love in the air was unmistakable.

Lee looked absolutely radiant in her beautiful gown. She is a powerhouse of a woman stylish, graceful, confident and together with Govan, they planned a wedding that was nothing short of extraordinary. From start to finish, the day was full of laughter, celebration, and rich cultural traditions.

It was a Lebanese wedding, which meant one thing: joyful chaos in the best way possible. From the moment the drums started playing as they made their way to the chapel, the atmosphere was electric. One of my favorite moments was when Lee future mother-in-law arrived given gifts, and they exchanged heartfelt tokens and words a gesture that spoke volumes of the love and unity between these two families.

There was dancing, there was drumming, and there was so much love  a true celebration not just of two people, but of heritage, community, and deep connection. Every moment was filled with meaning, and I felt honored to witness and capture it all.
